About Williamsburg

Sometimes referred to as the Far East Village, Williamsburg is undoubtedly the ‘hipster’ capital of Brooklyn, if not New York City. Densely packed with restaurants, cafes, shops, music venues, bars, nightclubs, and even a bowling alley, there’s probably nothing you can’t find to entertain you in this neighborhood. Williamsburg is located on prime, formerly industrial, Brooklyn waterfront. The addition of the new riverfront Domino Park makes it more accessible and friendly today. It has given rise to a massive amount of shiny new development and loft conversions since the 1990’s. The new and old live side by side here. As with Manhattan’s Soho, there’s an air of history here echoing back to its warehouse days forming part of its character in the present as a center of gravity for the city’s creative community. In the 1970’s artist and musicians seeking affordable rents began moving here and have contributed to Williamsburg’s vibrant Art and Music scene. The neighborhood is bordered by Greenpoint on its north, Bed–Stuy to the south, Bushwick to the east, and the East River to the west. The L-Train provides direct and fast transportation into Manhattan as does the Williamsburg Bridge with access by car, on foot, and bicycle.
