About Fort Greene & Clinton Hill

Fort Greene and neighboring Clinton Hill are at the top of every Brooklyn home buyer’s list. Rich with brownstones and pre-Civil War brick townhouses, this has long been an enviable neighborhood. Fort Greene was designated as a Landmark Historic District in 1978. Its location east of Brooklyn Heights has easy access to Manhattan via the best subway hub in Brooklyn at Atlantic Avenue, plus access to all that Brooklyn has to offer nearby like Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and the Brooklyn Museum. Fort Greene’s central feature is the beautiful 30-acre Fort Greene Park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also designed Manhattan’s Central Park. Fort Greene is bounded the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the north, Flatbush Avenue Extension to the west, Atlantic Avenue to the south, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the east. The neighborhood is part of the Brooklyn Cultural District which includes many Arts and cultural institutions including the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA), The Center for Fiction, Bric Arts, and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA). East of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill is bordered by the Brooklyn Navy Yard , Williamsburg, Bedford–Stuyvesant to the east, Prospect Heights to the south, and Fort Greene to the west. It has its own Landmark Historic District designated in 1981. This was considered Brooklyn’s Gold Coast in the at the turn of the 20th Century with mansions replacing more modest homes along grand Clinton Avenue. Pratt Institute is a private university and an anchor of Clinton Hill community, as is the elite Brooklyn Tech High School in Fort Greene. Complemented with a dynamic collection of restaurants and shops, this is a central destination for many visitors, sports fans, concert goers, and homeowners alike. I personally reside in Fort Greene now and would love to show you all of the magnificent amenities and homes of these great Brooklyn neighborhoods.
